Owners Manual

Zinger Power Chair Owners Manual

Where can I use the Zinger?

The Zinger can be used just about anywhere, indoors or out. It can handle a number of different terrains, such as grass, carpet, dirt and more.

Will it fit through my doorways?

In most cases, yes. Check to be certain your doorway openings are at least 27" wide. Any smaller than that will require you to get off and fold the Zinger in order to pass through. Businesses (mall, restaurants, etc.) are required to be ADA compliant, with doorways a minimum of 32" wide—no problem for the Zinger.

What is the Zinger's weight limit?

The Zinger Chair is capable of carrying a person weighing up to 275 lbs.

Does it come in a larger size?

The Zinger is available in only one size. See the Product Specifications section for specific dimensions. The maximum user weight limit is 275 lbs.

I'm not sure if I'm strong enough to operate the handles.

Very little force is needed to operate the Zinger Chair on level ground. In fact, just the weight of your arms is usually enough on smooth surfaces. Driving in grass or on rough surfaces may require slightly more force.

I only have one good hand. Is the Zinger for me?

Operation of the Zinger Chair requires the use of both arms and hands; however, we offer an alternative product for those whose dexterity is limited to one arm or hand. It's called the Zoomer Chair, and while it includes most of the same great features and benefits of the Zinger Chair, it is a one-handed, joystick-controlled chair. The joystick can even be installed on either side of the chair.

Is a Zinger right for me if I am handicapped or disabled?

While people use the Zinger for many different reasons, the Zinger Chair is a personal electric vehicle. The Zinger Chair is not intended for individuals fully restricted to a sitting position. You must be able to get in and out of the chair.

What’s included with the Zinger Chair?

The Zinger Chair will arrive fully assembled out of the box. It will include the chair, a battery, a charger and two keys (for securing the battery in place). In addition, it will include the hex key needed should you decide to remove the armrests.

Will Medicare help pay for my Zinger?

At this time the Zinger Chair is not covered by Medicare.

What accessories are available?

Accessories such as a seatback bag, cup/bottle holder, cane holder, spare batteries and spare tires are available.

Will the Zinger Chair fit under a desk or table?

Whether you are at a restaurant having dinner or just pulling up to your desk to get some work done, one of those great unique features of the Zinger Chair is that it easily fits under most desks and tables. Since the armrests are just 25" off the ground, you just pull right up as you would in a regular chair to any standard table or desk, which is generally 28" to 30" high. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) dictates that to be compliant, public seating must be a minimum of 27" from the floor to the bottom of the table surface.

Can I take it on the plane?

Yes, and here are a few things you need to know before taking your Zinger on a plane. Your Zinger should qualify as free baggage with most airlines, but you can call prior to your trip to make sure. You can ride your Zinger all the way up to the gate and down the jetway. As you get to the end of the jetway, you will need to remove the Zinger battery from the back of the chair,  fold your Zinger and hand to a flight attendant to stow under the plane. Take the battery onto the plane with you to your seat. Be sure to contact your specific airline to ask for their procedures for transporting a battery-powered vehicle, and see your Zinger Chair USA User Manual for more info. Here is a link to the FAA regulations regarding battery-powered chairs.  More info

Does the Zinger have reverse mode?

The Zinger Chair does have a powered reverse, but it's almost always easiest to back out simply by pushing your feet against the ground, or your hands against a table or wall as you would in a rolling office chair.

How do I know which speed to use?

Once powered on, the Zinger Chair defaults to the low speed, which is commonly used for indoor use on smooth surfaces. Here's a guideline for suggested speed usage.

Zinger Speed Ranges

Can I manually push the Zinger?

The Zinger Chair can easily be pushed around by the user when not riding in the chair.

Can I remove the armrests?

Yes, should you choose to remove the armrests (installed by default), the hex key tool needed to remove them is included in the box.

Is the foot plate adjustable?

The swinging foot plate is not adjustable; however, the Zinger is designed to fit people of most sizes.

Is the seat or backrest adjustable?

The seat and backrest are not adjustable. Some Zinger owners have chosen to add an additional cushion.

Can the Zinger be used on heavily padded or thick carpet?

Customers who are closer to the Zinger's weight limit of 275 lbs may find that the Zinger is a little more difficult to use when operating on the lowest speed setting on very thick or heavily padded carpet. The solution is to simply change the speed setting to "2," which will increase the ability of the Zinger to move around on these types of surfaces without significantly increasing speed.

How long will the battery last on a single charge?

Depending on usage (speed, weight, etc.) the Zinger Chair's battery will last up to eight miles of use.

How long does the battery last before replacing it?

It depends on the usage and conditions. The battery on average lasts for several years for many of our customers.

How long to charge the battery?

A charger is included, and the battery can be charged in or out of the chair. Charging takes four hours or less depending on the level of power already used. With a range of up to eight miles, most Zinger owners rarely run the battery all the way down in a single day.

How do I know if I need to charge the battery?

There is a battery indicator located on the control panel that tells you the battery life.

Should I buy a spare battery?

The range of eight miles was tested on a continuous level course. With hills, stops and turns, you should get around five to six miles per charge. If you expect to travel farther in a single day, a spare battery is recommended. It's also great to have a spare charged battery on hand to ensure that your Zinger Chair is always ready to go.

Is the battery included in the weight?

Yes. The 47 lbs includes the four-pound battery, which locks into the Zinger with a key.

Will the charger work in foreign countries?

Yes. It will operate on 110V or 220V, but you will need an inexpensive plug converter to fit the outlets of your foreign destination.

My Zinger

I like it very much. It’s handy in so many ways. It’s lightweight, easily maneuverable, long battery life, and loads easily in my truck.

Gained Independence

I have had my Zinger for a few days now and it has already improved my independence. I did have a scooter with a receiver jack on the back of my car and loading and unloading was awkward and heavy. Loading/unloading my Zinger is so easy and fast. My Zinger was very easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to understand. I enjoy driving it around.

Great Product!

I am able to move about more freely and independently. I can travel in areas that I wasn't able to easily before. The fact that my Zinger can fold up super easily is a great benefit.

I Love My Zinger Chair. It's The Best!!

I had bi-lateral knee replacement over 13 years ago and now I need to have a total ankle replacement on my right ankle due to ongoing arthritis issues. My Zinger Chair is keeping me mobile so I don't have to turn down invitations to go shopping, out to eat, or even on vacation. This is one of the best things that I have ever used to keep me mobile so I can continue to enjoy life. I also live in the country and this chair makes it easy for me to get to the pasture to see my longhorns and horse. I would highly recommend this chair to almost anyone with mobility issues.

Nothing But Five Stars For My Zinger.

Greetings to all I am a new Zinger owner. I wanted to wait awhile before writing a review on my Zinger with a chance to use it in order to review it best. This is an amazing invention. When I'm using it really feels like the Zinger has a mind of its own. That is due to it touching responsiveness. What I mean by that is that while your at the controls, all it takes is a slight movement by your hands to make your Zinger respond instantly to whatever direction you want it to go. One of the features I enjoy most is that the Zinger can turn in place. In my home I have a 90 degree hallway that leads into my T.V. viewing area. Now no wheelchair can maneuver into the room area without going back and forward in the 3 feet by 2 foot entry way. The Zipper to my surprise with it's turning on a dime feature, is able to enter in one single sweep of a turn. Just amazing I thought when I tried it for the first time. In folding my Zinger, I take it every where I have to walk for more than 20 - 30 minutes at a time. I take it to the V.A. clinic for appointments, the mall and markets everywhere. With my Zinger I am able to be out for an extended period of time in the greater outdoors without having to come home with major back symptoms. I suffer from curvature of the spine which limits my mobility. Well thanks to the Journey for Health & Lifestyle folks that made my Zinger available for me, thanks a million from a grateful customer.
